Companies not listed here may still stand behind their work without
publishing a period, which is worth asking on the phone. A 24/7 claim
is what a company publishes, not something we have tested by calling
at night.
Which companies have a parts counter I can walk into?
Fewer than you would expect, and it varies by branch rather than by company. Some locations run a genuine counter with parts available for purchase on site while other branches of the same company are dispatch only with no counter at all. Where we have confirmed a parts counter from the company’s own materials, the listing says so. Call before driving.
Can I buy the part myself and have someone fit it?
Some companies will, many will not, and a few will fit customer-supplied parts but without warranty on the repair. The reason is that they cannot guarantee an unknown part, and a wrong or counterfeit component can damage the equipment. Ask before ordering, and be aware that using non-OEM parts can affect equipment warranty.
How do I work out which part I actually need?
Start at the metal data plate for the model and serial number, photographing the whole plate rather than copying it, since suppliers match on the full model string and manufacturers change components mid-production without changing the model number. If you cannot name the component, photograph it in place. Why do technicians push OEM parts?
Beyond the margin, OEM parts keep manufacturer warranty intact and are specified for the load. Several networks listed here hold factory-authorized status specifically so warranty repairs can be done with correct parts, and carry large OEM inventories so a common failure is fixed on the first visit rather than after an order.
