Manufacturer Tech Support Numbers

Manufacturer technical support will not usually send anyone. They answer questions about the equipment, confirm warranty status, and point you at an authorised service agent. That is genuinely useful, and it is a different call from the one that gets a technician to your door.

Every number below was read from that manufacturer’s own manual or contact page while we were building the fault code library, not copied from a parts reseller. Where we do not hold a number, the brand is not listed: a wrong phone number is worse than none, particularly at nine at night.

What to ask a manufacturer, and what to ask a service company

Worth a call to the manufacturer: is this unit still under warranty, is this part still made, which service agents are authorised for my area, what is this control supposed to be doing, and is there a known issue with this model. A technical line can settle in minutes what would otherwise be a paid site visit.

Worth a call to a service company: anything that needs somebody to arrive. Have the model and serial number from the data plate ready, the fault code written down before you clear it, and what changed recently.

One number here is unusual

Heatcraft is the only manufacturer on this list publishing a separate after-hours line alongside its normal 8am to 8pm number. Most makers publish office hours only, which is worth knowing before a Saturday night: for everyone else on this list, the after-hours call is to a service company rather than to the factory. Our emergency page lists the companies that publish round-the-clock cover, and is honest that we have not tested those claims at night.

What “authorised service agent” actually means

It is the phrase every manufacturer uses when routing you onward, and it is worth knowing what it does and does not tell you. 46 of the 117 companies in this directory publish some form of factory or manufacturer authorisation, and we record each claim in the company’s own words on its listing.

Authorisation generally means the company can carry out warranty work for that maker and can get OEM parts through the proper channel. That matters a great deal while equipment is in warranty, because using an unauthorised company can void it. It is not a quality rating, it is usually per-manufacturer rather than blanket, and several excellent independents hold none at all.

The claims themselves vary more than the phrase suggests. Some name specific makers, which is the most checkable form. Some claim a count, such as authorisation across hundreds of brands. Some simply say “factory authorized” without saying for what. Those are different statements and we keep them distinct rather than flattening them into a badge.

Missing a make?

This list grows as we read manuals. If a manufacturer you need is not here, its own website is the right place: look for parts and service rather than sales, and for a service agent locator, which most makers publish and which is how they route work to independent companies like the ones in this directory.
