Warranty and pricing terms taken from the companies’ own websites.
A cheaper rate with nothing behind it can cost more than a dearer one
with ninety days of cover.
Companies not listed here may still stand behind their work without
publishing a period, which is worth asking on the phone. A 24/7 claim
is what a company publishes, not something we have tested by calling
at night.
Fault code tables for this equipment
If there is a code on the display, look it up before you call. Knowing
the code, and whether it points at a probe or a heater or a water
supply, changes what the technician brings with them.
Planetary mixers, mixer grinders, slicers, food processors, meat saws, and buffalo choppers. These are mechanical rather than thermal or refrigerated, so they are often serviced by different technicians than your ovens or coolers, and manufacturers like Hobart and Berkel dominate the installed base.
My slicer or mixer has a safety interlock that will not clear. What now?
Interlocks exist because these machines remove fingers. If a guard switch, bowl lock or blade interlock is not satisfied, the machine is telling you something is not seated or the switch has failed. Do not bypass it, and do not run the machine with a guard removed. This is a technician repair and a serious one from a liability standpoint.
How often do mixers and slicers need service?
Slicers need blade sharpening and thorough sanitation on a schedule set by health code, since they handle ready-to-eat food. Mixers need gearbox oil checks, bowl lift and agitator wear inspection, and belt checks. Both belong on a preventive maintenance schedule rather than run-to-failure, because failures tend to happen under load and cause damage.
