Pitco Solstice fryer Error Codes
Applies to: Solstice and SG/SSH fryers. Compiled and paraphrased from Pitco's own service manuals, all published on pitco.com: L22-330 R1 (10/12) for the SE Series electric fryers, covering the computer and backup control messages, the high limit trip and reset temperatures and the probe and element resistances; and L22-392 R1 (10/14) for the SSHLV ROV gas fryers with the I12+ controller, covering the blocked-drain lockout sequence, the roughly 90-second heat feedback loss before an ignition or heat failure is reported, the ignition module sequence and spark specification, and the gas high limit range. Displays and blink patterns vary by controller and by whether the fryer is gas or electric; always confirm against the manual for your exact model. Table last updated Aug 14, 2026.
How to read the codes
Pitco fryers report faults two ways depending on the control package: digital and computer controllers display text messages on screen, while solid state units blink the heat feedback light in counted patterns (count the flashes between pauses). Read the exact wording, because Pitco uses two separate messages for one circuit: PROBE OP means the temperature probe reads OPEN, SYSTEM FAILURE means it reads SHORTED, and they send a technician to different tests. One more piece of background saves calls: several of these faults are safety interlocks doing their job. The high limit opens around 425F and will not reset until the oil falls to roughly 375F, and once it does reset the controller still has to be turned off and back on before the fryer will heat. One more distinction that decides what you do next: on auto-filter (ROV) fryers the drain messages are a COUNTED LOCKOUT, not a repeating warning. BLOCKED DRAIN gives three attempts and then the fryer stops permanently with no reset available from the front panel, and unplugging the fryer to clear it will damage the drain valve and void the warranty. Count your retries.

| IGNITION FAILURE / lockout | Burner failed to prove flame | On gas fryers the roll-out switch or high limit tripping cuts the 24 VAC supply to the ignition module. The controller then calls for heat, gets no 24 VAC heat feedback, and after ABOUT 90 SECONDS of that loss reports ignition or heat failure. So the message arrives a minute and a half after the real event, which is why the fryer can look like it failed while idle. Pitco's note worth knowing: whenever the controller is on, the pilot should always remain lit | Check the pilot is lit. After a roll-out or high-limit trip has been reset, the controller must be turned OFF and then back ON before the unit will heat: it does not resume on its own | Ignition module, igniter/pilot assembly and flame sensor. Pitco's spark spec is a purple spark about 1/4 inch long jumping from the spark rod to the CENTRE OF THE FLAME HOOD, and specifically not to the flame sensing rod.
