Frymaster M3000 fryer Error Codes

Applies to: M3000 controller fryers. Compiled and paraphrased from Frymaster's own manuals published on frymaster.com: the 3000/3010 Controller Operation Manual, document 8196985 (08/2017), covering software versions 3 through 7, which supplies the error log codes, the operator troubleshooting table, the normal-operation messages, the filtration temperature minimums and the E-Log access sequence; alongside Frymaster LOV M3000 controller and service documentation for the AIF, ATO and valve codes. TWO DISCREPANCIES ARE RECORDED RATHER THAN RESOLVED: Frymaster documents give 410F, 425F and 450F in different places for the high limit on this controller family, and give both 24 and 25 hours for the filter paper timer. How to read the codes

Frymaster fryers with the M3000/3000 controller family (including LOV and FilterQuick models) show an E-code and message on the controller display. The same code family appears across gas and electric models with model-specific additions, and on split vats the display indicates which side tripped. Record the code and message text exactly.

E21 Filter pad procedure error Filter pad or paper past its change interval or the change was not completed properly. Frymaster's own manuals disagree on the interval: the 3000/3010 operation manual gives a 24 hour timer, while the LOV M3000 technical reference gives 25 hours together with dirty filter logic. E08 ATO board error: the controller has lost contact with the automatic top-off board The top-off system stops working while the fryer carries on cooking, so oil level falls quietly rather than announcing itself. Frymaster's service literature points first at the fuse on the right side of the ATO box, then a bad connection, then loss of power to the ATO board Check the jug (JIB) is above the fill line, since an empty jug produces a similar complaint. Otherwise this is a service call: the fryer will keep cooking with a falling oil level, which shortens oil life and changes cook results before anyone notices ATO box fuse, harness continuity between the controller, MIB, AIF and ATO, and ATO board power. With the controller OFF, pressing TEMP shows the ATO software version; if it does not appear the ATO is not properly connected

E27 Low temperature alarm: oil is roughly 35F below setpoint Frymaster's threshold is approximately 35F (19.4C) under the programmed setpoint. This is the counterpart to E28 and it usually means the fryer is failing to keep up rather than failing outright: a heating component on its way out, or simply too much product dropped at once Stop dropping product and let it recover. If it will not climb back to setpoint with the vat idle, it is a service call Heating circuit, contactor or gas valve, and probe calibration. A fryer that recovers when idle but not under load is a capacity problem, not a dead component
HOT HI-1 / HI TEMP / HIGH LIMIT FAILURE (display messages) Three separate over-temperature messages that are easy to confuse HOT HI-1 means the frypot is above 410F (210C), or 395F (202C) in CE countries, and is logged as E05. HI TEMP means the oil is more than 40F above setpoint, which is E28's alarm, and Frymaster notes the high limit will shut the burner off if temperature keeps rising to 425F (218C) non-CE or 395F (202C) CE. HIGH LIMIT FAILURE DISCONNECT POWER means the high limit itself has failed. WORTH KNOWING: Frymaster's own documents do not agree on the high limit figure, with 410F, 425F and 450F all appearing across manuals for this controller family, so treat the exact number as model-specific and confirm against the manual for your fryer HOT HI-1 and HIGH LIMIT FAILURE both mean shut the fryer down immediately and call. For HI TEMP, press the power button off and let the oil cool before restoring power. Assume oil above 410F is ruined High limit thermostat, controller and probe. The Tech Mode high limit test exists but ruins the oil and is a technician-only procedure
SERVICE REQUIRED (followed by a code) A fault has occurred that needs a technician, and the controller is asking whether to keep cooking The message is followed by the specific error. Pressing NO continues cooking in some cases and in others cooking is not allowed. This is the prompt operators most often dismiss without reading the code that follows it Read and write down the code that follows the message BEFORE pressing anything, then call. The code is the entire diagnostic value of the alarm The E-Log holds the ten most recent codes: with the controller off, scroll to Product Setup, then Vat Setup, enter 1656, scroll to E-LOG, and read entries A through J with timestamps
Normal messages that are not faults MLT CYCL, IS VAT FULL?, WAIT FOR FILTER, FLT DYLD, POL DYLD, WAIT FOR CLEAN, WAIT FOR DISPOSE, INSERT PAN All published by Frymaster as normal operation. MLT CYCL with the fryer cycling on and off is the melt cycle and is expected below 180F. IS VAT FULL? is routine after filtering or filling. WAIT FOR FILTER means another function is still running. FLT DYLD and POL DYLD mean a filter or polish was delayed. WAIT FOR CLEAN and WAIT FOR DISPOSE mean the oil is below 250F (121C), which is the minimum for Clean, Filter and Dispose; Polish needs 300F (148C) None of these need a service call. If a filter or clean will not start, check the oil temperature against those minimums before assuming a fault One genuine fault hides among them: a fryer that does not heat AFTER FILTERING usually has the drain valve not fully closed. Check that before anything else
Refrigerant-side work legally requires an EPA Section 608 certified technician, and opening electrical panels is technician work. When in doubt, record the code and the cycle behavior; that detail alone shortens the service call.
