Baxter OV500 oven Error Codes

Applies to: OV500 rotating rack ovens. Compiled and paraphrased from the Baxter OV500 Rotating Rack Oven Operator Manual with Advanced Electronic Oven Control, form 36806 Rev. How to read the codes

The OV500 signals faults in three ways and they are easy to confuse. Some are WORDS on the display such as SHdn and LOC OUT. Some are BEHAVIOUR with no code at all, where a flashing display or a particular beep pattern is the message. And on gas ovens there is a separate LED on the ignition module, read by counting flashes, which a technician checks through a hole in the control box cover. Note also that a rapid beep means something different on a Kosher-equipped oven than on a standard one.

UPdt-FAIL-USb-Err A firmware or recipe update from USB failed No binary file found on the drive, or an unreadable file Insert the correct USB drive, power the oven off, wait ten seconds, and power on Confirm FIRMWARE.BIN or RECIPE.BIN is present in the drive root
Refrigerant-side work legally requires an EPA Section 608 certified technician, and opening electrical panels is technician work. When in doubt, record the code and the cycle behavior; that detail alone shortens the service call.
